Flanged In-line Spark Trap

Flanged In-Line Spark Traps are installed as a part of a dust collection system used in order to greatly reduce the possibility of fire in Cyclones/Collectors by decreasing the number of sparks which could reach the cyclone or collector through the ductwork. There are no moving parts and no power required for operation with minimal pressure loss. In-Line Spark Traps can quickly and easily be mounted into Quick-Fit ducting systems, or other duct systems via the flanged ends, and the trap can easily be removed for cleanout. Calibration or other assistance from a factory technician is not required. This is a simple, low-cost tool that can reduce incidents of fire events, reducing costs and disruption and improving safety. System redundancy and complementary measures should be applied.
Flanged In-Line Spark Traps are manufactured as follows:
- In 4 to 24 inch diameters, with 22, 20 and optional 18 gauge Galvanized or 304SS Stainless Steel
- The flanged ends are supplied standard with Angle Flanges attached loosely (so flanges are easily rotated for bolt alignment), retained via a 5/8 inch Vanstone lip. Flanged In-Line Spark Traps can be used with Angle Flanged Adapters and Angle Flanged Gaskets for quick connections to QF Pipes
- The collars have a laser welded longitudinal seam
- Spark Traps, sizes 4 to 14 inches are available only as a complete unit, which includes two sections and a clamp attaching the sections. Diameter of both ends must be the same measurement (i.e. if diameter of airflow side is 6 inches, diameter of downstream side must also be 6 inches.)
- Ends come standard with Angle Flange (ANGFL).

- At temperatures ranging between 390° F and 480° F, the zinc-iron alloy layers in the galvanized steel will continue to provide a high level of protection from corrosion. However, there may be some peeling, changes in mechanical properties, and reduction in the corrosion protection. Recommended maximum service temperature is 390° F.
- For 304 SS metal, bluing may occur at temperatures of 800° F and above.
- Rock River Silicone Sealant and Red Devil HVAC/R High Temperature Silicone Sealant are not able to be painted.
